ISL organizes an international student orientation each semester for new and transfer international students matriculating to the University of Georgia. The information included in the ISL orientation is not covered by any other orientation program on campus. Highlights from ISL's orientation schedules include information concerning immigration issues, taxes for non-residents, cross-cultural adjustment, housing assistance, course registration procedures, Social Security Cards, UGA payroll, and campus tours. Current UGA students serve as orientation leaders (called World Leaders) to assist with international orientation sessions.
Undergraduate students, including transfer students, should register for New Student Orientation through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at http://orientation.uga.edu. Note that completing orientation is a requirement for all incoming undergraduate and transfer students. By completing this process, you will then be provided further information about virtual academic advising during summer 2020. For more information, please visit Orientation's webpage at http://orientation.uga.edu.
All international undergraduate students will additionally be enrolled in the International Student Orientation portal, accessible through http://elc.uga.edu. Here, you are required to complete the Academic Advising 101 module prior to receiving clearance for academic advising. If you have any questions about this requirement, please contact ISL at firstname.lastname@example.org.
All exchange students, both undergraduate and graduate, will be automatically enrolled into the International Student Orientation portal online, available at http://elc.uga.edu.
Once you make the decision to attend the University of Georgia, all graduate students should complete this form to enroll into the online International Student Orientation portal.
Even in the online space, ISL staff and World Leaders look forward to welcoming you to the Bulldog Nation and making you feel like a part of the UGA family! We are here to support you and your success.
ISL staff and the World Leaders are currently hard at work building your online orientation experience for summer 2020. Here's a bit more about what you can expect from the online orientation system.
